Well, I spoke too soon when I said that I didn't have withdrawls yesterday! Last night, I was feeling really tired at 9 PM to the point that I told my husband that I just had to go to bed. He went to bed after me, which rarely happens! I fell asleep almost immediately, but then I woke up around midnight with a dull headache. It lingered on all night and was still there by morning, but once I got up and started getting ready for work -- it just magically disappeared. So today's menu looks pretty much like yesterday's except I had turkey and salami with my salad instead of a boiled egg. For supper, I made a stir fry of various veggies and shrimp! (see photo below) I fried it in one stick of real butter and added garlic and some other seasonings. This was more delicious than I imagined it would be! I am accustomed to using lots of soy sauce, but this didn't need it! I weighed in at 186.8 -- that's a decrease of .6 from yesterday..... but who is counting! Until tomorrow!

Day 1 complete!!
Ok..... So day one is almost over. I feel like this is definitely do-able. My biggest mistake is that I should have kept a snack to have at work today. I worked later than usual and I was starving! Luckily, I found a green tipped banana--(what kind of good fortune is that?!) and it saved me. They occasionally provide popcorn for everyone at my workplace and I will say that when I smelled it, I got excited..... and then I remembered that popcorn is a NO food. If I had any real symptoms, it would be that I became tired and 'foggy' feeling around 2 pm.... I would normally have a diet soda then, but I pushed through-- ate some almonds and sunflower seeds and drank my herbal tea. So what did my food list look like today? Here it is:
Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs and 2 strips of bacon-- unsweet tea and herbal tea
Lunch: big garden salad with one boiled egg and sunflower seeds/almonds. Now here I failed to plan ahead with salad dressing. So I gave in and used Ranch dressing. It is a NO food, but it only has 1 g sugar per serving.
Snack: almonds/sunflower seeds/green tipped banana
Supper: one grilled pork steak, grilled vegetables
Snack: a very small garden cucumber(pickle size) wrapped in a slice of hard salami and a slice of turkey. And then I ate a handful of pork rinds. I'm sure the pork rinds are not recommended.
I drank a lot of water as well.
So I feel like the day has been a success! And even though they say not to weigh to measure the success; I weighed this morning and I will just put it out there.....: 187.2 lbs I'm just curious to see what happens to this number. However, this is not about weight so much as it is about breaking free from my sugar addiction and from food ruling my thoughts and my eating actions.
Until tomorrow!

Ready! Set! Go!
So here I am, on the eve of my 21 day sugar detox! TWENTY ONE DAYS!! No sugar, no potatoes, no soda and no HONEY! What?! So how have I prepared for this journey? I've read the research, prepared a simple food list of what I'm planning to eat this first week, gone to the store and stocked up my fridge, and I've warned my husband! :P I also have a detox buddy.......my friend Sara at work. This was actually her idea. And then I've been saying goodbye to some of my 'off limits' foods by ingesting them all! Probably not the best prep, but it makes me feel better. I mean.....this is what I feel like I'm supposed to be doing, right? Stuff one last doughnut, potato chip and s'more into my mouth while I still can! More than likely this is going to create a bit of a problem for my side effects/withdrawl later, but I really really have a serious love for the sweet stuff! I just hope Sara doesn't read my blog, because her advice was to ease into this plan over the weekend......oops.......I'll let you know how day one goes tomorrow......
